The Story

How Color Magic got here, and why it is built the way it is.

Color Magic started with one belief that has not moved since: Coffee this good was never meant to be guarded.

Siri has been working in specialty coffee since 2013, her experience spans coffee sourcing, roasting, sensory evaluation and education.

Over the years, she has trained baristas and roasters, led coffee programs and traveled to coffee-growing regions to learn from producers, buyers and Q graders firsthand. Those relationships have shaped her understanding of coffee and the responsibility of sharing it. Behind every coffee she selects is someone’s work, knowledge and care. Her approach to roasting is about letting that work come through in the cup.

She created Color Magic to bring together the things she loves most about coffee: discovering new flavors, connecting with people and finding something beautiful in an everyday ritual. Through freshly roasted coffee, tastings, workshops and pop-ups, she shares her experience in a way that welcomes questions and leaves room for everyone’s own taste.

For Siri, enjoying coffee begins with paying attention. What we taste and smell is connected to the lives we’ve lived, and you don’t need a particular vocabulary to have something meaningful to bring to the table. Color Magic is an invitation to slow down, get curious and enjoy what’s in your cup.

Color Magic lives in one room of an old craftsman in Oceanside that has been turned into an art house. There are studios upstairs, work on the walls, and coffee on the bar. It is not a cafe. It is a place you come to, sit down in, and stay a while.

The coffee is seasonal and small. Five to ten on the bar at any time, rotating as they come in. If you know exactly what you want, she will make it. If you have no idea, she will ask you two questions and pour you something you end up loving. Both of those are the right way to order.

Going to the source

The relationships behind these coffees are not a line on a bag. Siri travels to origin, sits with the producers, and keeps working with the same people season after season. That is what makes the coffee consistent, and it is what makes the price fair on both ends.

Coffee is the product. Participation is the brand.
